With the significance of the census, and a lack of understanding by many why it was significant, this series was designed to motivate and educate people to participate. The copy uses puns to engage, and the design is bold and legible. The type was chosen for its modern twist of wood type, and the stars-and-stripes glyphs tie back to this country’s flag. The “XXX” in the upper left is illustrative of the respective census number one gets in the mail. The original post was so popular, several non-profits asked to use the designs.
